ELA
Reading: One group continues to learn letters and sounds. They have been taking the sounds they know and are blending into c-v-c words. Another group is learning various of types of words such as digraphs and blends and reading many power words to help increase reading level. They are all learning about character, setting, problem, solution, character traits and imagery.
Writing: One group is working on writing numbers, letters, c-v-c words, and their names. They have also began learning how to write a complete sentence. Another group is writing various types of words including power words. They are writing their own sentences.
Math
Students are learning all numbers to 100, skip counting, place value, addition and subtraction using various manipulatives to help.
Science
Students are studying about animal classifications and habitats.

What Can Parents Do?
ELA: Read to your child!! Ask questions about what was read to your child. Review letters and sounds. Try to sound out simple 3 letter words such as cat, dog, bug and write the words. Review power words with your child.
Math: Review numbers 0-100, count objects, add objects together, take away objects, look for shapes in objects, review colors.
Writing: Practice writing first and last name. Have your child try to write a sentence.
